I Am A Woman!

by Rachel AnsongIn honor of Women's History Month, I was motivated to write a poem about the oppression of the feminine race. I was inspired by Simone de Beauvioirs' "The Second Sex," which is about womans inferiority to men, and the male sex as the standard or dominant sex. It is fascinating that society legitimizes these beliefs through subtle actions such as men offering their seats to women or the idea of "ladies first". This poem was not written in rage or anger but with passion for awareness. Women should not be seen any less than men. Women are definitely capable  of creating their own history, just like men.I Am A Woman!Daughter of,Wife of,Ms…my father’s name goes here.Mrs…my husband’s name goes here. From birth he strips me of my essence, and labels me as his slave.I am tied to his loins, that which is my duty to satisfy.I refuse to plant the crops!and harvest fruits. So you in all your glory sell the goods, and I have to beg for the greens.I am not a womb:a figure planted with ovariestriggering emotions, and sending me back to you.Don’t open the door for me!My hands are as strong as the foundation of the earth.Don’t give up your seat for me!My feet are firm like steel.Don’t tell me I can’t build! My heart pumps with passion.I detest the label unskilled! My brain flows with creativity:just like you.Always indebted to His story.Finding no escape from this boundary. He stands alone, but not S he.De Man Ding!!I am not a Woe Man.I am just the other sex.
