During the chaos surrounding a pro-Palestinian protest and CCNY Public Safety’s response at City College on Thursday, April 24, a group of 10-20 people was pepper-sprayed by a Public Safety officer, entrances to campus were closed, and one CCNY student was arrested.
Bad Bunny, renowned for his trap and reggaeton hits, now aims to tug on our collective heartstrings with his latest album. Tapping into his Puerto Rican heritage for inspiration, the album is infused with rich, traditional island rhythms to honor his roots. DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS was released on January 5th, a day before Three Kings Day, a holiday widely celebrated across Latin America. While the music primarily targets a Puerto Rican audience, aiming to evoke a profound nostalgia and yearning for home, Bad Bunny’s melancholic album utilizes themes that resonate with a variety of diasporic communities.
Last September, I looked out my window and felt grief come over me. As if the warmth itself were a person, I mourned its loss as the colder months crept in. Growing up, I despised the warm weather. The heat made it harder to find cute outfits to wear, and the blistering sun, which beamed relentlessly, made sweat collect on my forehead as large bugs filled the air. To me, springtime air is filled with emotions, ambition, and a sense of renewal and possibilities. Suddenly, love feels more profound, self-discovery and reflection feel more urgent, and connections to people, places, and things feel stronger.
